Eyesite
Eyesite keeps an eye on your website, alerting you by email if any files, anywhere in the directory structure are added, changed, or deleted.Eyesite scans directory structures, storing the details of each file in a database table. The details stored include the file date/time, size, and md5 checksum of the file. Every time Eyesite re-scans the directory structure, it re-calculates the md5 checksum of each file, and compares it to the one stored in the database. Eyesite is then able to detect any files in the directory tree that are new, changed, or deleted. If any changes are detected, Eyesite sends you an email.
With Eyesite, you can scan your site manually from the admin interface, or setup a Cron job to do the scan on a regular schedule. We sleep better at night knowing that Eyesite will tell us if anyone gets into any of our websites. And we'll know exactly which files were tampered with.

The Eyesite scanning script takes a while to run, and for a few people, that's a problem because a few servers won't allow the script to run for long enough. We have a great solution in mind, but no time to build it.
Eyesite is a back end component only. There is no front end. It is multi-language.

Why isn't Eyesite on the JED?
We removed Eyesite from the JED because we received too many support requests from people who hadn't read the user guide, and not enough donations to justify all the hassle. Eyesite works well and remains completely free and open source, but we offer no support for it whatsoever. If you can get it to work, you are welcome to use it, but you must read the user guide. You cannot figure out how to use Eyesite without it.
