The Plotalot component really is free. It includes the full back end chart editor, and the front end of the component can display any number of charts on your site. The only restriction in the free version is that the X axis title for bar charts and line graphs is always "Plotalot Free". Pie charts don't have this restriction.

We do make a small charge for the Plotalot plugin, which allows you to place charts anywhere in any article (with your choice of X axis title, of course). Once you have seen and evaluated the component, we hope you won't mind paying the small contribution that helps us to maintain and enhance Plotalot.

When you buy the paid version, you get the plugin, and the paid version of the component that allows your choice of X axis title. You can also download SimplePlot, if you want, which is a sample component that shows you how to build your own components using Plotalot. Most people don't need this component, but there's more information about it here.

Plotalot is packaged in our "hybrid" format, so the same packages install and work in Joomla 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5.
